Single Thrust Ball Bearing

Thrust ball bearings with flat back face are separable and divided into single direction and double direction designs. The single direction thrust ball bearings with flat back face can only be used to carry axial load in one direction and limit the axial displacement in single direction. The double direction thrust ball bearings with flat back face can be used to carry axial loads in both directions and limit the axial displacements in both directions. Nether of them can carry radial loads.
Thrust ball bearings can handle loads in the axial direction only. Bearing rings mounted on the shaft are called shaft washers, and those mounted in the housing are called housing washers. Both washers contain raceways for the balls.

Care must be taken in handling to prevent damage to the separable rings and ball assemblies.

Typical applications: Live centers in lathes, lead screws, automotive clutches, kingpin supports, speed reducers.
